January 2020

We were grateful to be able to resume our travels to Haiti in January. It’s always a pleasure to bring a group of volunteers who have not been to Haiti before and see the country through their eyes. We were not sure what would await us after the three month lockdown that had been imposed on Haiti, but once again the Haitian people displayed their resilience. The country has not fully recovered and the problems are far from over but we are confident that the people will persevere.

With the help of so many generous people and our Amazon Wishlist, we were able to deliver necessities to all of our 26 students. We apologize if we did not get a personal thank you note to you, as not all of the Amazon deliveries had a name attached. Please know that we are deeply grateful. School shoes, undershirts, underwear, socks, deodorant, toothbrushes, and food items were all very useful and, thanks to our six volunteers, we were also able to hold our annual party for our students. It was so much fun hanging out with the kids and teaching them to play our games. We would also like to thank Marc from V’Ice for providing his delicious vitamin shaved ice to our kids and a possible opportunity to some of our students’ moms.

As a result of the schools being shut down for three months, our students will have an extended school year. They are happy to be back in the classrooms and continuing their path to a brighter future. Thanks to everyone who continues to support us. Our students appreciate each and every one of you!
